House Moves Toward Passage Of Lindsey Graham Russia Sanctions Act

The legislation would also target Russian officials, financial institutions and leaders while expanding sanctions against Iran.

The House is expected to pass a major Russia sanctions package Wednesday and send it to President Donald Trump, according to the article.

Named the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, the bill seeks to increase economic pressure on Moscow over its war in Ukraine. It would authorize Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries such as China and India if they rank among the largest buyers of Russian oil or gas.

The legislation would also target Russian officials, financial institutions and leaders while expanding sanctions against Iran.

The Senate approved the measure last month by an 86-11 vote, reflecting broad bipartisan support.

However, some House Democrats argue the bill gives the president excessive tariff authority without requiring sanctions against Russia. Reps. Gregory Meeks, Don Beyer and Richard Neal said the measure could raise costs for Americans and potentially weaken long-term support for Ukraine.
