Tensions across the Middle East are rising amid fears that President Donald Trump could authorise fresh military strikes against Iran after the November 3 US midterm elections, according to CNN.

Residents across Gulf countries are preparing for possible disruptions to travel, schools and businesses. The uncertainty follows months of conflict that began with US and Israeli strikes on Iran in February. Tehran has warned that any renewed fighting could trigger attacks on regional infrastructure.

The US has reportedly deployed additional troops to the region, while families of American diplomats have begun leaving some Gulf postings. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also remained in office despite losing his parliamentary majority.

Diplomatic efforts continue through regional mediators. Vice President JD Vance has sent a proposal to Iranian officials, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington remains open to negotiations. However, Tehran has insisted that its conditions must be accepted before progress can be made.
