Investigators accused him of killing a one-month-old kitten with bleach in June and seriously injuring another with a blow dryer. He also allegedly attempted to drown a third kitten named Luna.

The teenager called 911 on Wednesday after reportedly witnessing the abuse. Deputies later found evidence suggesting two additional kittens had been buried in the family's backyard during the previous year.

Charette was booked into the Lee County jail on $100,000 bail. Luna was taken to an animal hospital and is recovering from her injuries.
