A Florida man has been arrested after deputies accused him of abusing and killing family kittens as a form of punishment for his teenage daughter.
According to authorities, 48-year-old David Charette was arrested Thursday in Fort Myers following an investigation into repeated animal cruelty allegations.
Witnesses told deputies that Charette had allegedly abused the family's cats in front of his daughter when he believed she had misbehaved.
The teenager called 911 on Wednesday after reportedly witnessing the abuse. Deputies later found evidence suggesting two additional kittens had been buried in the family's backyard during the previous year.
Charette was booked into the Lee County jail on $100,000 bail. Luna was taken to an animal hospital and is recovering from her injuries.
