China’s new medium-lift transport aircraft, known as the Y-30, is being promoted as superior to the U.S. C-130J Super Hercules in multiple areas, according to a Chinese military magazine cited in reports. The aircraft completed its first test flight in December and is being developed by a state-owned aviation firm.
The Y-30 is designed to exceed its American counterpart in engine power, payload capacity and advanced systems. Analysts cited in the publication said it could transport entire combat units, helicopters and missile components, enhancing China’s rapid deployment capabilities.
