Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee officially began his tenure as U.S. Ambassador to Israel on Monday, presenting his credentials to President Isaac Herzog in a ceremony at the President’s Residence.

Herzog hailed the U.S.-Israel alliance as “stronger than ever,” welcoming Huckabee’s deep-rooted support for the Jewish state. “This is a sacred honor,” Huckabee said, recalling his first visit to Israel over 50 years ago. “I look forward to working to deepen our strategic partnership.”

Huckabee emphasized cooperation in security, intelligence, and innovation, and warned of shared threats posed by Iran. The event, broadcast live, drew dignitaries including Dr. Miriam Adelson. On social media, Huckabee shared the emotional impact of hearing the U.S. national anthem played in Jerusalem. He also responded to calls for more Israel aid to Gaza, stating, “How about we put the pressure where it really belongs – on Hamas.”
