A severe wildfire has consumed at least 148 acres (60 hectares) of land within Indonesia’s Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, prompting officials to completely close the popular tourist destination to the public starting August 3.
Firefighters and emergency crews have been battling the blaze across grasslands, savanna, and steep slopes within the park. Dry conditions and strong winds have fueled the flames, complicating containment efforts.
