Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said Monday that the agency is ramping up efforts to identify and deport visa overstays following the Boulder, Colorado attack.

“There is a big push right now at ICE to go ahead and identify all of these individuals that have overstayed their visas,” Lyons told reporters.
“We want to go ahead and make sure we take these bad actors out of the country before anything like this could happen. Because under the last administration, the screening just wasn’t there.”

The comments come after Mohamed Soliman, an undocumented immigrant who overstayed his visa, attacked a pro-Israel rally with incendiary devices. The FBI is investigating the case as terrorism.
