Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance have welcomed "significant progress" in negotiations for a multi-sector Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) between India and the United States. The agreement aims to enhance market access, reduce tariffs, and deepen supply chain integration across goods, services, energy, and defense sectors

Both leaders are committed to advancing these discussions, with the goal of doubling bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. The BTA is seen as a strategic move to strengthen economic ties and counterbalance China's influence in the Indo-Pacific region. The announcement follows high-level meetings and underscores the growing partnership between the two nations.
