Iran’s army claimed Thursday that it launched missile and drone attacks against military facilities used by U.S. forces in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, according to CBS News.

Iran said its forces targeted satellite facilities, warehouses and fighter aircraft hangars at Kuwait’s Ahmed Al-Jaber Air Base.

Tehran claimed the strikes damaged communications equipment and aircraft hangars, but provided no evidence. It also said radar systems and areas hosting U.S. personnel at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE were targeted.

Kuwaiti authorities confirmed that Iran had launched attacks against the country but did not immediately disclose whether the weapons were intercepted or caused casualties or damage. There was also no immediate confirmation from the U.S. military that American facilities were hit.

Kuwait strongly condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of its sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security. The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said the country reserves its right to defend its territory and vital facilities under international law.
