The United States removed B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford in Britain after discovering a suspected plot involving Iran to launch a complex drone attack on the base, according to US officials.

British authorities declared a major incident at the base on September 29 and arrested several men under the Explosives Act. They were later released on bail. Police subsequently arrested a 22-year-old man in London on Tuesday on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts as part of the investigation.

Iran has denied involvement in the alleged plot targeting RAF Fairford, a key European base for US bomber operations. The suspected threat prompted the withdrawal of the B-1 aircraft, according to US officials.

A spokesperson for US European Command declined to discuss specific intelligence behind the decision. The command said US bombers, including B-1s and B-52s, retain the ability to conduct precision global strikes from other locations. The investigation into the alleged plot remains ongoing.
