Trump repeated claims that U.S. strikes last summer destroyed Iran’s nuclear weapons program and alleged Iranian forces killed tens of thousands of protesters. Iranian officials rejected both assertions, saying Washington is attempting to repeat falsehoods to shape public opinion.

The dispute comes as the United States and Iran prepare for another round of nuclear negotiations in Geneva. Iranian leaders warned that while they remain open to diplomacy, any U.S. military action would prompt retaliation against American bases in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi insisted Iran will never pursue nuclear weapons but defended the country’s right to limited uranium enrichment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Analysts told CBS News that the gap between both sides remains wide, with the risk of military confrontation rising.
