Israel has backed President Donald Trump’s decision to pause U.S. strikes on Iran under a newly agreed two-week ceasefire, reported by regional officials. The agreement was reached shortly before Trump’s deadline for large-scale military action expired.
According to the report, Iran has committed to ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz during the pause, with negotiations scheduled to begin in Pakistan. Israel said it supports the ceasefire on the condition that Iran halts attacks and reopens key shipping routes.

However, Israeli officials clarified that the ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon, contradicting earlier claims by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The report said fighting in Lebanon has intensified since Hezbollah attacks prompted Israeli military action.
Israel reiterated its position that Iran must no longer pose a nuclear or regional threat. The temporary ceasefire is being viewed as a narrow window for diplomacy amid ongoing tensions across the Middle East.
