The Kennedy Center board has again approved a plan backed by President Donald Trump to close the Washington arts venue for two years for a major renovation estimated to cost $250 million.
According to the report, the board also voted to place the inscription "Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump" beneath the center's existing signage.
The proposed closure is intended to address extensive structural deterioration, including severe corrosion, as well as upgrade parts of the facility. The project would include structural repairs, new marble flooring and approximately $7 million in improvements to restrooms.
Democratic lawmakers have also criticised the latest move, arguing that the board is attempting to circumvent the court's authority.
According to the report, the proposed inscription is designed to work around federal restrictions on creating new memorials at the Kennedy Center.
Trump's name was removed from the building in June following a court order, although coverings remain on parts of the facade. Kennedy Center officials are expected to submit the revised renovation proposal to Judge Cooper for review next week.
