The U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned from the Trump administration amid mounting misconduct allegations. The accusations include claims of an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, misuse of staff, and alcohol use during official duties.

According to reports, an internal probe by the Labor Department’s inspector general examined messages involving Chavez-DeRemer, her aides, and family members interacting with junior staff. The New York Times reported that some staff were directed to assist her family, raising concerns about abuse of power.

Chavez-DeRemer denied wrongdoing, calling the allegations politically motivated and part of a broader campaign against her and President Donald Trump.

Her exit marks the third high-profile cabinet departure in recent weeks. The White House said Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling will serve in an acting role.

The resignation comes amid growing scrutiny over leadership and ethics within the administration.
