Lindsay Clancy Jury Ends Third Day Of Deliberations Without Verdict

The jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial ended its third day of deliberations Monday without reaching a verdict, with deliberations set to resume Tuesday.

Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, is accused of killing her three children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023 before attempting suicide.

The central issue in the trial is Clancy's mental state. Her defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was unable to control her actions. Prosecutors maintain that she understood what she was doing and made a conscious decision to kill her children.

The jury heard testimony from more than 70 prosecution witnesses and 10 defense witnesses over five weeks before beginning deliberations.

Jurors can consider murder and manslaughter charges, as well as whether Clancy was not criminally responsible because of mental illness. The outcome could result in a life sentence, a lesser punishment or psychiatric commitment.

The jury will return Tuesday to continue considering the evidence and determine Clancy's criminal responsibility.
