Sen. Darline Graham has announced that she will run for a full six-year term representing South Carolina in the U.S. Senate after being appointed to complete the remainder of her late brother Lindsey Graham's term.
According to the report, Graham confirmed her decision during an interview on Fox News, saying she accepted the challenge after receiving encouragement, including public support from President Donald Trump.
The report said South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Graham to the Senate last week following Lindsey Graham's death, with her current appointment lasting until January 2027.
According to the report, Graham acknowledged feeling significant pressure before deciding to enter the race, a move that surprised several prominent South Carolina Republicans.
Voters will choose the Republican nominee in a special primary on Aug. 11, with the winner advancing to the November election to compete for the full Senate term.
