Meta Lays Off Workers Across Facebook And Reality Labs

Meta Platforms is laying off several hundred employees across key divisions, including Facebook, global operations, recruiting, sales, and its Reality Labs unit, according to CNBC.

The company said the cuts are part of ongoing restructuring efforts to improve efficiency and align teams with business priorities. Some affected employees are being offered alternative roles, though certain positions may require relocation.

The layoffs come as Meta ramps up spending on artificial intelligence, seeking to compete with rivals such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. The shift reflects a broader industry race to dominate AI development.

Earlier this year, Meta cut over 1,000 jobs in its Reality Labs division, which focuses on virtual reality products like Quest headsets. The latest move underscores the company’s continued pivot away from metaverse-heavy investments toward AI-driven growth.
