Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers is intensifying efforts to win over Democratic voters after progressive Abdul El-Sayed secured the Democratic nomination in Michigan's closely contested Senate primary, CNN reported.
In a new campaign video shared with CNN, Rogers appealed to Democrats disappointed by El-Sayed's narrow victory over Rep. Haley Stevens.
According to CNN, Democrats are moving quickly to unify behind El-Sayed. Stevens has endorsed him and joined him at a unity event, while former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is expected to headline a Democratic rally in Detroit.
The report said both candidates are making bipartisan appeals, but Rogers continues to criticize El-Sayed over his political alliances and views on Israel. El-Sayed, meanwhile, has accused Rogers of being closely aligned with President Donald Trump.
