NATO said its defense systems intercepted another ballistic missile launched from Iran that was heading toward the airspace of Turkey. According to the alliance, the interception took place Friday morning in the eastern Mediterranean and marked the third such incident in just over a week.
The report said NATO forces had previously shot down similar missiles on March 4 and earlier this week. Officials said it remains unclear whether Iran directly targeted Turkey or if the missile was passing through Turkish airspace toward another destination.

Turkish authorities said they are investigating the incident and are consulting with relevant countries to determine the circumstances. The statement said Ankara will take necessary measures to defend its territory and airspace.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has warned that any violation of Turkish airspace cannot be tolerated even as Ankara urges de-escalation in the broader regional conflict.
