Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would investigate the circumstances behind an incident in which a Flydubai co-pilot allegedly stabbed the pilot and disrupted a flight to Tel Aviv.
The aircraft made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, before continuing to Israel.
According to the account provided by authorities, the aircraft descended nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds after the incident.
Flydubai suspended flights to Israel following the incident. Authorities are investigating the Omani co-pilot’s motive, while Netanyahu’s office said Israel would tighten checks on pilots operating flights into the country.
The incident has also prompted renewed security concerns surrounding air links between Israel and Gulf states under the Abraham Accords.
