A fast-moving wildfire near Reno, Nevada, has prompted a state of emergency and evacuation warnings affecting about 90,000 people. The Hawk Fire, which officials say was human-caused, remained completely uncontained Sunday after burning more than 15,000 acres.
According to CNN, roughly 42,000 residents were under mandatory evacuation orders, while another 45,000 were in warning zones. Two medical facilities evacuated patients, and six people suffered injuries, though none were considered life-threatening.
The report said the fire's cause remains under investigation, with no indication it was deliberately started. Officials are also assessing potential structural damage, while about 10,000 people in Washoe County had lost power.
Forecasters expect stronger winds later this week, potentially complicating firefighting efforts.
