New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice seeking complete, unredacted records related to Jeffrey Epstein's Zorro Ranch, arguing that the federal government's refusal to release the files is obstructing the state's ongoing criminal investigation.
According to the report, the lawsuit also names Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche as a defendant.
The report said federal prosecutors asked New Mexico in 2019 to pause its investigation, assuring state officials that relevant information would be shared once the federal inquiry concluded.
However, state authorities contend that the requested records have still not been provided despite repeated requests over several years.
The lawsuit argues that withholding the documents violates the Administrative Procedure Act and interferes with New Mexico's authority to pursue criminal prosecutions.
The report said the Zorro Ranch property is now owned by Texas businessman Don Huffines, who has announced plans to convert the estate into a Christian retreat.
