The map is supported by President Trump.

The map, which now heads to the GOP-controlled state House, targets a district held by Democratic Rep. Don Davis, one of three Black members of Congress from North Carolina.
Gov. Josh Stein, a Democrat, cannot veto redistricting bills, though legal challenges are expected.
The move follows President Donald Trump’s push for Republican-led states to redraw maps to solidify GOP dominance ahead of next year’s midterms.

Similar efforts are underway in Texas, while Democrats in California seek to redraw their own maps to gain five seats.
Republican leaders said the redistricting “fights fire with fire,” accusing Democrats of long-term gerrymandering. Democrats, however, called it a dangerous attempt to appease Trump and warned it undermines democracy.
