Russia launched more than 1,000 drones at Ukraine over 36 hours, marking a major escalation as Moscow ramps up its spring offensive, according to CNN. Ukrainian officials said hundreds of drones struck cities across the country, including central and western regions.
At least 40 people were injured, and several were killed, including civilians in a maternity hospital strike. Residential areas and cultural sites were also damaged.

Ukrainian forces intercepted hundreds of drones, but officials warned the scale and frequency of attacks signal a shift in Russian tactics aimed at prolonged pressure on civilian infrastructure.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said the assault shows Russia has no intention of ending the war. He also warned that global tensions, including conflict involving Iran, may be emboldening Moscow.
Fighting has also intensified on the ground in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces are pushing toward key defensive positions.
