A new super PAC, American Priorities, is emerging as a major financial force in Democratic primaries, backing candidates critical of Israel and challenging the influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), reported by CNN.

According to the report, the group has spent at least $5.6 million in just six months, helping progressive candidates including Darializa Avila Chevalier, Claire Valdez and Melat Kiros secure primary victories.

Although its spending remains far below AIPAC's United Democracy Project, which has spent more than $34 million this election cycle, progressives view the PAC as an important counterweight.

CNN said American Priorities was formed to support candidates who oppose AIPAC's influence in Democratic politics. Critics, however, argue the group contradicts progressive calls to reduce big money in elections.

CNN reported that both organizations are expected to remain active in upcoming races, including Missouri and Michigan primaries, where pro-Israel and anti-Israel Democrats are set to compete.
