Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Friday that the United States and Iran have reached a “final, agreed upon text” for a deal aimed at ending their more than three-month conflict.
Sharif’s statement echoed recent comments from President Donald Trump and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Trump said Thursday that the U.S. had reached a major settlement with Iran, pending the completion of final documentation. Araghchi also said a preliminary memorandum of understanding between the two countries was closer than ever.
However, disagreement remains over the reported contents of the proposed agreement. According to reports, draft provisions include lifting oil sanctions and releasing frozen Iranian funds. Trump rejected those reports, saying publicly circulated details bear no relation to the terms agreed upon in writing.
