Paramount has agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump over the editing of a 2024 “60 Minutes” interview with then–Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump alleged CBS News misrepresented Harris’ answers, causing “mental anguish” and misleading voters.
The settlement, reached through mediation, includes no apology and stipulates that future interviews with presidential candidates on “60 Minutes” will include full transcripts, with redactions only for legal or national security reasons.

The money will go to Trump’s planned presidential library, not to him personally, according to Paramount. CBS maintained the edits were standard practice to streamline Harris’ long response. The company had initially sought to dismiss the lawsuit.
The settlement comes as Paramount pursues a merger with Skydance Media, which requires approval from Trump’s administration. Two top CBS executives opposed to the deal have resigned. The Freedom of the Press Foundation threatened legal action against the settlement.
