Polish Authorities Arrest Suspect In Alleged Russian Killing Plot

Poland says it stopped an alleged Russian-backed plot to kill a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian origin in Warsaw, marking what Prime Minister Donald Tusk described as an unprecedented attempt to target an American on the territory of another NATO member.

Polish intelligence officials said the operation was conducted with assistance from U.S. agencies. Officials have not publicly identified the intended victim or explained why the person allegedly posed a threat to the Russian government.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has not commented on the allegations, while the U.S. State Department said it was aware of the reports but had no additional information.

The AP reported that European officials have linked Russia to a broader campaign involving alleged assassinations, sabotage and other disruptions targeting critics of Moscow and supporters of Ukraine.

The Navy disputed claims of increased suicidal thoughts or attempts aboard the carrier, saying it has not observed such a rise and has medical and mental health personnel available.
