Prosecutors in Miami-Dade have dropped a felony battery by strangulation charge against rapper Rick Ross, citing insufficient evidence. However, he still faces a misdemeanor battery and domestic violence charge.
The case follows Ross’s October 1 arrest in Miami Beach after his former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, accused him of assaulting her during an August incident at his Star Island residence.
Kendrick alleged that Ross restricted her breathing by twisting her hoodie collar and slammed her against a wall. Police reportedly collected timestamped photographs documenting her injuries.
The Miami-raised rapper previously faced legal proceedings in Georgia in 2017, when he pleaded no contest to aggravated assault charges before being cleared under a first-time offender programme.
