Secretary of State Marco Rubio met G7 foreign ministers in France as the escalating Iran war dominated discussions, reported by the BBC. Washington faces growing pressure from allies to de-escalate tensions amid fears of economic fallout and energy disruptions.
According to Rubio, G7 nations must take stronger action to address Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for nearly 20% of global oil and gas supplies. He stressed that countries committed to international law should respond more firmly.

European leaders, including the UK and Germany, called for a unified approach to end the conflict quickly and restore regional stability. The report said G7 nations remain cautious about direct military involvement.
Talks also touched on the Ukraine war, with officials warning of links between Tehran and Moscow. Despite divisions, leaders agreed that stabilizing energy markets and avoiding further escalation remain urgent priorities.
