Russia launched one of its largest aerial assaults on Ukraine this year, killing at least 16 people and injuring more than 100, according to Ukrainian officials, as reported by CNN.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia deployed 659 drones and 44 missiles in a 24-hour barrage targeting major cities including Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro. Authorities said residential areas were hit, causing widespread damage and fires.

According to the State Emergency Service, fatalities included civilians and a child in Kyiv. In Odesa, multiple deaths occurred after a drone strike was followed by a missile hit on the same building.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the strikes a “massive terrorist attack,” while President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia’s actions and urged continued international pressure.

The escalation follows a brief Easter ceasefire that quickly collapsed, underscoring Moscow’s continued military offensive despite calls for restraint.
