Russia launched a massive overnight barrage against Kyiv and surrounding areas, killing at least 14 people and wounding dozens, Ukrainian authorities said. The strikes damaged residential buildings, a hospital, a school and warehouses, while emergency crews battled large fires and searched damaged sites.
According to CNN, Ukraine has struggled to maintain sufficient stocks of U.S.-supplied Patriot interceptor missiles, which are particularly important against Russian ballistic missiles. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine currently has only about 10% of the interceptors it urgently needs.
The attack also affected neighboring countries. Romania reported that a Russian drone crashed in an uninhabited area near the Ukrainian border, while Poland conducted precautionary air operations.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has intensified its own drone strikes against Russia, including a major attack involving more than 800 drones.
