A Russian drone strike on a farm in northeast Ukraine killed 13,000 pigs and injured a worker, officials said. The attack, which occurred in the Novovodolazka community in Kharkiv, sparked a fire that destroyed eight large animal stalls spanning 140,000 square feet.

Photos released by Ukraine’s state emergency service showed pig carcasses amid partially burned structures with shattered roofs.

The strike comes amid a broader Russian assault targeting Ukraine’s natural gas facilities run by state-owned Naftogaz.

Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia launched 381 drones and 25 missiles against gas extraction and processing sites in Kharkiv and Poltava, causing critical damage at several facilities.

Naftogaz CEO Serhii Koretskyi condemned the attacks as deliberate acts against civilian infrastructure, aimed at disrupting heating services and leaving Ukrainians vulnerable in winter.

Russia defended the strikes as targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and energy infrastructure. The incident underscores the ongoing humanitarian and economic impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
