Russia’s Overnight Barrage Triggers Deadly Blackouts Across Ukraine

Via @nexta_tv

Russia launched one of its largest overnight attacks in months on Nov. 19, firing 48 missiles and 476 drones across Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. At least 20 civilians were killed in Ternopil, including two children, and more than 115 people were injured nationwide.

Ukrainian defenses intercepted most drones and cruise missiles, but strikes still hit 14 locations, damaging residential buildings, schools, hospitals, warehouses, and key power facilities.

Western regions far from the front line — including Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil — suffered heavy damage.

Emergency outages were imposed as Russia targeted thermal power plants and critical infrastructure amid below-freezing temperatures. Authorities warned of polluted air and expanded load-shedding to stabilize the grid.

President Volodymyr Zelensky urged stronger Western sanctions and more air defense support, saying Russia aims to break civilian life ahead of winter. Poland scrambled fighter jets as the attacks approached NATO airspace.
