Houthi rebels have released video claiming they shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet over Yemen as the Iran-backed group expands its offensive, according to CNN.
The Houthis said the aircraft was hit by a locally manufactured surface-to-air missile while conducting operations over Marib province.
The released footage appears to show a missile striking a fighter jet, followed by fighters examining wreckage carrying Saudi markings.
The alleged incident comes as the Houthis have seized additional territory, including a Red Sea port and an island near a key shipping route. The group has also increased attacks on Saudi Arabia, prompting retaliatory strikes.
The developments have raised concerns that Saudi Arabia could become more directly involved in the broader US-Iran conflict and further threaten regional energy supplies.
