The U.S. Senate could be nearing an end to the ongoing government shutdown this week, as both parties face mounting political and public pressure.

A scheduled Senate recess next week and President Donald Trump’s return to Washington add urgency to strike a deal. Lawmakers say any resolution will likely require direct White House involvement.
