Walmart is partnering with OpenAI to allow customers to shop directly through ChatGPT, marking the world’s largest retailer’s biggest push yet into AI-driven e-commerce.
The new feature, set to launch in the fall, will let users browse and buy items — including groceries, apparel, and entertainment — through conversational prompts instead of traditional search results.

The integration will also use OpenAI’s “Instant Checkout” tool, enabling purchases within ChatGPT. Items from Sam’s Club will follow soon after.
