Republicans are blasting a federal court ruling that blocked key parts of President Donald Trump’s tariff regime, calling it a “judicial coup.”
The Court of International Trade ruled Wednesday that Trump had overstepped his authority by imposing broad tariffs on U.S. trading partners, reaffirming that only Congress holds the power to regulate foreign commerce under the Constitution.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller took to X, declaring, “The judicial coup is out of control,” echoing similar outrage from conservative influencer Laura Loomer.

White House spokesperson Kush Desai told Fox News, “It is not for unelected judges to decide how to properly address a national emergency,” adding that the administration would continue using “every lever of executive power” to respond to the crisis and restore “American Greatness.”
The ruling marks another legal setback in Trump’s aggressive trade agenda, especially his tariff war with China.
