White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles made a series of unusually blunt remarks about President Donald Trump and senior administration figures in interviews published by Vanity Fair.
In more than ten interviews conducted over the past year, Wiles described Trump as having “an alcoholic’s personality,” despite his abstinence from alcohol.

She acknowledged the president’s appetite for retribution and said some second-term actions could appear vindictive. Wiles also said Trump ignored her advice on issues including deportations, pardons, and tariffs.
The interviews included sharp assessments of top allies, policy disagreements over Venezuela and January 6 pardons, and admissions that some of Trump’s public claims lacked evidence.
After publication, Wiles said her comments were taken out of context and called the story a hit piece. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump remains fully confident in Wiles and praised her leadership.
The remarks have drawn attention due to Wiles’ traditionally low public profile and central role in Trump’s second-term White House.
