The campaign for U.S. sports-prediction company Novig has drawn backlash for what athletes describe as the sexualization of women in sports. Australian surfer Felicity Palmateer told CNN the campaign could harm female athletes and discourage young girls from entering sports.

Four-time Olympic swimmer Ariarne Titmus also condemned the campaign, saying it undermines women who have dedicated themselves to athletic achievement. Swimmers Lani Pallister and boxer Skye Nicholson posted videos emphasizing training, competition and athletic performance instead.

The Novig Instagram video reportedly received 37 million views within four days.

Sweeney appeared to address the controversy by sharing images from ESPN The Magazine’s former “Body Issue,” which featured nude and semi-nude athletes.

The campaign is the latest controversy involving Sweeney, following criticism over her 2025 American Eagle advertising campaign.
