WHO declared the outbreak a “public health emergency of international concern” on Sunday. The agency said the rapid rise in cases across multiple health zones could signal a much larger outbreak than currently detected.
According to the World Health Organization, 11 cases have been linked to the outbreak, including three deaths.
State records obtained last year by KING 5 showed that components of drugs, including illegal Chinese drugs, sold by the telehealth company were illegally imported from China by a Seattle, Washington‑based compounding facility, Aequita Pharmacy.
The ship had departed from Belfast and Liverpool earlier this month for a scheduled cruise around France and Spain. Health officials in Gironde said nearly 50 passengers showed symptoms consistent with gastroenteritis.
