President Donald Trump is turning his attention back to trade policy as tensions with Iran ease and a diplomatic framework offers hope for ending the months-long conflict, reported by CNN.

Ahead of the G7 Summit in France, Trump warned that he could impose a 100% tariff on French wine and Champagne if France continues enforcing its digital services tax on major American technology companies.

According to CNN, Trump has also threatened higher tariffs on European vehicles and backed proposals targeting imports from countries including Japan, China and India.

The report said the renewed trade focus comes as the U.S. economy continues recovering from the effects of previous tariff disputes. Hiring has improved in recent months, but inflation remains elevated following energy price increases linked to the Iran conflict.

Economists told CNN that core inflation has remained relatively stable so far. However, concerns persist that new tariffs, combined with lingering inflation pressures, could create fresh economic challenges for businesses and consumers in the months ahead.
