Oracle is planning to cut thousands of jobs as the company pours billions into expanding data centers to support artificial intelligence services, according to a report from Bloomberg cited by Investing.com.
The layoffs could affect several divisions and may begin as early as this month. Some of the reductions are expected in roles that the company believes will become less necessary as AI systems take on more operational tasks.

Oracle has also reportedly begun reviewing open job postings within its cloud division, effectively slowing or freezing hiring in certain areas.
The workforce changes come as the company accelerates investment in large data centers designed to handle growing demand for AI computing power. Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison has been pushing the company to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure to compete with major tech rivals such as Amazon and Microsoft.
Oracle employed roughly 162,000 workers worldwide as of May 2025, according to company data.
