Tesla reported 486,532 vehicle deliveries in the third quarter, exceeding estimates from analysts and the company’s own consensus forecast. Street Account had projected about 461,100 deliveries, while Bloomberg analysts expected 463,761.
Despite beating forecasts, Tesla’s deliveries were about 2% lower than the 497,099 vehicles delivered during the same quarter last year.
Deliveries increased from 480,126 in the second quarter, even as the electric vehicle market faced challenges following the expiration of the $7,500 U.S. federal EV tax credit.
CEO Elon Musk is also pushing development of the Cybercab and Optimus humanoid robot. Tesla and SpaceX executives have discussed broader strategic possibilities, including a potential combination of the companies.
