The "Woke" Democrats Wake Up To A Rip Van Winkle Reality
On February 11, in the wake of the Robert Hur report on President Biden and Hur's view that Biden couldn't endure a trial given his mental faculties, we penned an entire editorial called: The Democrats' Tangled Web In Defending Biden's Senility.
The piece was themed around an elegant quote from Sir Walter Scott from 1808: "Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive."
At the time, only two primary nominating contests had occurred: the February 3 (South Carolina) contest, which awarded all 55 delegates to Biden, and the February 6 Nevada primary, which awarded all 36 delegates to the President.
Timing is everything in politics, and the Democrats should have heeded our advice and acknowledged their deceit. They should have taken action to field an alternate candidate and aggressively created a challenge to Biden. They knew Biden was senile and had problems completing a sentence or an idea without drifting away with cop-outs like "Anyway.....," and "I will get into trouble if I continue." Yet they deceived themselves, and the media outlets merrily followed, deceiving the entire country. Biden was their man to beat Trump, and that was all they cared about.
And rather than look at the brewing mess, they staged a revolt against Hur as a Donald Trump appointee who was harming the President. They extolled Biden's virtues, mental faculties, and capabilities to make their point and disparaged Hur's "partisan" report.
California snake oil seller Democratic Congressman Adam Shiff:
What you did write was deeply prejudicial to the interests of the President. You say it was not political and yet, you must have understood — you must have understood — the impact of your words.
Rep. Hank Johnson, a Georgia Democrat:
You're doing everything you can do to get President Trump re-elected so that you can get appointed as a federal judge, perhaps to another position in the Department of Justice. Is that correct?
Over the next few months, Biden was so dominant that he won over 87% of the vote and 99% of all pledged delegates. The exact total will be influenced by factors such as the number of pledged delegates and superdelegates and any changes in the allocation methods for each state's primaries and caucuses that will be finalized at the Democratic National Convention in August.
But now, several members of the Democratic party and the media who have spent four years talking about how democracy is on the ballot—the Washington Post's tagline is "Democracy dies in the darkness"—are suddenly doing something very undemocratic.
They want to deny their President around whom they made deals (and pushed through intolerable DEI-based programs to transform America fundamentally) a chance to run for reelection. President Biden won the nomination fair and square, didn't he? Yes, but that doesn't matter anymore.
Schiff was on NBC's Meet the Press, going completely unchallenged by the host Kirsten Welker.
But the performance on the debate stage, I think, rightfully raised questions among the American people about whether the President has the vigor to defeat Donald Trump. And this is an existential race.
Given Joe Biden's incredible record, given Donald Trump's terrible record, he should be mopping the floor with Donald Trump. Joe Biden's running against a criminal. It should not be even close. And there's only one reason it is close, and that's the President's age. And what I would say, Kristen, what I would advise the President, is seek out the opinions of people you trust. He's obviously talked to his family about this. And that's important. But he should seek out people with some distance and objectivity. He should seek out pollsters who are not his own pollsters. He should take a moment to make the best-informed judgment. And if the judgment is run, then run hard and beat that S.O.B.
So, in Schiff's telling, Biden has deteriorated so dramatically in his age and faculties in just five months?
Biden has been the most undemocratic president in generations. He has ignored Supreme Court rulings in his student aid loan waiver program and retired billions of dollars in loan debt. He has unleashed the full force of his DOJ to go after his former rival so that Trump won't be on the ballot. Justice Clarence Thomas is raising constitutional questions about whether Jack Smith's appointment as Special Counsel is even legal!
Now, the very elite who were willing partners in his efforts to undermine democracy are trying to stymie him from pursuing reelection, using the same undemocratic ways that Biden has employed against Trump and the Supreme Court.
What goes around comes around.
