Three people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at a home in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, in what authorities described as an isolated domestic incident.
According to the report, the shooting occurred on Wednesday at a residence on Brooks Road, leaving three adults dead and another family member injured.
The report said Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden confirmed the suspect was a member of the same family and is among those who died.
Investigators are still working to determine whether the suspect lived at the home or had travelled there before the shooting.
One injured victim was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment, while the remaining three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials stressed that there is no ongoing threat to the public and described the incident as contained.
Detectives have urged anyone with information related to the shooting to contact law enforcement as the investigation continues.
