Second Shooting Incident This Year Near U.S. Consulate Under Investigation

Toronto police are investigating reports of gunfire near the U.S. Consulate after evidence of a firearm discharge was discovered outside the building early on Monday morning.

According to the report, officers responded to the area around Armoury Street and University Avenue at about 4:45 a.m., where a white sedan was seen leaving the scene shortly after the incident.

The report said investigators have not confirmed whether the consulate was the intended target or whether the gunfire was directed at another individual. No injuries have been reported, and authorities have not released a description of any suspects.

The incident marks the second shooting linked to the U.S. Consulate this year. In March, multiple shots were fired at the building in what the Royal Canadian Mounted Police classified as a national security incident. Two suspects were later arrested and charged in connection with that case.

According to the report, investigators are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers as they work to determine the motive behind the latest shooting.
