Senior Trump administration officials moved quickly to defend White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles after Vanity Fair published a lengthy profile featuring her blunt remarks about President Donald Trump and top officials.

The article, based on multiple interviews conducted over several months, quoted Wiles describing Trump as having “an alcoholic’s personality” and offering sharp assessments of Vice President JD Vance, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and other senior figures.
Wiles also criticized the handling of the Epstein files and the shutdown of the US Agency for International Development.
Wiles responded on social media by calling the story a misleading hit piece that stripped her comments of context, though she did not dispute the accuracy of the quotes.

Cabinet members and senior officials publicly backed Wiles, praising her loyalty and effectiveness. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused the media of attempting to divide the administration.
Vice President Vance downplayed the remarks, saying he and Wiles have joked about them privately.
President Trump has not publicly commented.
