President Donald Trump has announced that he will deliver a nationally televised address on Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern, though the White House has not disclosed the subject of the speech.
According to the report, Trump made the announcement on Truth Social as tensions with Iran continue to dominate the administration's foreign policy agenda.
The report said the announcement follows Trump's recent declaration that the United States would act as the "Guardian of the Hormuz Strait," a policy aimed at keeping the strategic shipping lane open while proposing a security charge on eligible cargo transiting the waterway.
The move came after U.S. military strikes on Iran that officials said were intended to protect commercial shipping.
While officials have not confirmed the speech's focus, ongoing developments involving Iran and maritime security are expected to be central topics.
