President Donald Trump opened the G7 summit in Canada with a bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who greeted him with birthday wishes.

Addressing growing tensions with Iran, Trump confirmed that Tehran had urged Middle East nations to mediate. “They want to talk. But they should have done that long ago,” Trump said. “They had 60 days. On the 61st day, I said we don’t have a deal.”

He stressed that while the conflict is painful for both sides, “Iran is not winning this war,” and warned that Tehran should talk “immediately before it’s too late.”

Trump reiterated U.S. support for Israel, noting, “Israel is doing very well right now.”
